1. How long have you been running?
I started running about 2 years ago in march. It was a 100 days ‘till summer challenge!

2. Why did you start running?
Because my eczema finally dissapeared and because I was becoming a little bit too fat. After a while I noticed I really enjoyed running. It clears my head and it’s so nice to be in a good condition!

3. What is the furthest distance you have ever ran?
Ten miles of Antwerp. I never thought it would be possible for me to run that far, but I finished! And I had a good result actually: 1 hour 35 min!

4. What is your best running memory?
I like how runners and supporters can pull you through when you’re having a bad time. And I was having a bad time at the run of Brecht, when it was nearly 30°C! I reached the finish line because of them!

5. What shoes do you run in?
I’m running in Saucony’s for over a year now, and I’m thinking about buying Nike structure’s. They are so beautiful and they still fit my feet nicely.

6. What are your favorite and least favorite distances to run or race?
I like running 10km the most. It’s a perfect distance for me. 4km or 5km is a little bit too short for me, I’m in need of a little warming up before I get my feet to run good!

7. Do you have a running partner?
No. And I don’t know whether I like to have one or not. It would be nice to run together when it’s late in the evening or when it’s dark in the forest, but it is irritating when you don’t run at the same pace… And that means you have to make time together at the same moment.

8. What is your favorite place to run?
I like running in nature. I like running in a forest the most, but that’s not allways possible offcourse… So mostly I go running at the river nearby.

9. What is your favorite running accessory?
My ipod: music makes me go run faster! And other than that: my buff, to keep my neck warm in winter while running outdoor.

10. Do you like outdoor or indoor running?
Outdoor definitely! But sometimes i have to run indoor because of lack of time or because of the bad weather..

11. What is your favorite time of the day to run?
I like to run in the morning! You can feel the day is awakening, there’s energy in the air and there is so much time ahead of you to do nice things!

12. What races have you ran?
I haven’t done much races and I mostly do the same every year: Brecht, Sint Lenaarts, Brasschaat,  Antwerp 10 miles.

13. What music do you listen to when running?
I like to listin to Bastille, Ed sheeran, Imagine dragons, Robin Schulz, Maroon 5, … Music with a little beat makes me happy and it makes me run faster somehow…

14. What is the hottest or coldest weather you have ever ran in?
Hottest: 30°C and a burning sun at the 10km Brechtse Stratenloop 2014!
Coldest: I continue running in winter, so -1°C at a training in december 2014.

15. What are some other exercises you love?
I like to play badminton, do some abb exercises and I like biking. But I go running most of the time though..

16. Are you currently training for something?
I’d like to do the Antwerp 10 miles edition 2015, so i’m starting to get my training a little bit more dirty because that run is in april. So there’s still a lot of time to get it done!

17. What are your current or future goals?
Maybe I’d like to run a marathon.. I don’t figured that one out yet. Running a marathon can’t be too healthy for your body, but still it is a big achievement! So I’ll start with half a marathon and then start thinking about running a whole one, haha!

Healthy November

“Santa claus is coming to tooooowwwwnnnnn” December is a month full of (unhealthy) food. Better to be prepared and to plan a healthy November! The stores are already filled with marzipan, chocolate and biscuits and so is our house. And once you’ve tasted it, you mouth desires for even more sweetness!

So time to get a little bit healthy. No, I’m not going to eat sugar free, I will not be on a diet and I’m not going to cry all by myself. I just want to skipp the Nutella on my bread and I want to be able to ignore that cabin filled with sweets. Hello fruits and vegetables!

I still live at my parents’ hous, so I have to eat the same diner as they do. Once in a while they eat french fries and pizza off course. No big deal to me, because they eat healthy most of the time and I didn’t plan on losing some weight. I just want to eat less saturated fat and less short sugars.

So I’m planning on drinking a lot of tea and water, but I actually hardly drink soda or tea with sugar. But candy and biscuits are my bigest problems. Especially when the people surrounding me are eating sweets! The first days will be the hardest, but once I’m adapted it will be a lot easier – I think!
